"Continuations"

The cover of this book is a visual representation of the way in which the poem was written, as the work was a collaboration in which two poets located in different places would alternate writing parts in order to create the whole. The cover features two simple geometric patterns coming together to become organic and complex.
In designing the text layout for this project, the content was first broken down into number of lines per stanza and number of stanzas per poem. By doing this the text treatment could be designed so as to leave no blank pages and the fewest instances of single stanzas on a page. A multi-column grid supported not only the combination of indentation, vertical drop and folio placement implemented in order to signify the beginning of each numbered section of the poem, but allowed for a separation between the poem and the supporting text.
"Continuations" was awarded "Book Cover Design of the Year" at the Alberta Book Awards in 2007.
