"Who's Afraid of Red, White and Blue"
MA Book Design, The University of Reading
180mm x 240mm (7.1in x 9.4in)

The content of this book consisted of text based essays and image based shorter essays. The text based essays were written by contemporary art critics and contain images and notes. The shorter essays were prepared by the artists themselves and needed to effectively display high quality images.

The content of the book—as it was contemporary art—was extremely diverse and dynamic and it was decided that it had to be presented in a non-pretentious and intellectual manner. Times New Roman was selected for the body type and Monotype Grotesque for captions and titles. The resulting design supported the content with an honest and utilitarian presentation yet retained an elegance in the attention to subtleties and typographic detail.
